  1. WORLD ON FIRE

With blazes raging out West, COVID spreading like fire all over the world and politics as hot as ever, "World On Fire" is a song of our times. Produced by Julian Müller (Blackberries, Suzan Köcher’s Suprafon) the song invokes an early angry Bob Dylan, a never mellowed Neil Young, or even a melancholic Hunter/Garcia work while mirroring our 2020 dystopian lives.
Jay Ottaway is an award-winning singer-songwriter called by Germany’s Rockradio.de “one of the most innovative artists of our time.” His works have been honored by American Songwriter Magazine, the USA Songwriting, International Songwriting and many more. His songs are influenced by his heroes Bob Dylan, Neil Young and the Grateful Dead but are fresh and timeless.

Lyrics

World on fire, ashes buzzing around like flies
Flames and flares, watch our memories disappear
Funeral pyre, dancing smoke fills up the sky
Turn and run, feel the heat of a thousand suns

Twist and squirm, see our fears dug up like worms
Paradise, moans and melts before our eyes

Wood trembling
Roots are torn
Air so tough to breathe
Leaves crackling like a lighting rod
Embers burn our naked feet

World on fire, forests dreams lie petrified
World on fire, gates of hell have open wide

Never learn, every spark can be a curse
No concern, break the rules now watch us burn

Woods trembling
Roots are torn
Air so tough to breathe
Leaves crackling like lighting rods
Embers burn our naked feet

World on fire, forests dreams lie petrified
World on fire, gates of hell have open wide

Sift through ashes in morning light
Blink through smoke that stings our eyes
Hang on hopes - What might survive?
Afraid to look and see!

World on fire, forests dreams lie petrified
World on fire, gates of hell have open wide
World on fire, forests dreams lie petrified
World on fire, gates of hell have open wide
